Gimbap and Onigiri

    This past weekend, I had the chance to watch the J-drama "Gimbap and Onigiri. The story follows Hase Taiga, a Japanese part-time worker at a small restaurant, and Park Rin, a South Korean animation student living in Japan. They connect over their love for food, and it serves as a bridge for their growing romance despite their cultural differences. 

    I really enjoyed watching it and took note of various phrases we learnt in class that kept coming up. Phrases like Itadakimasu, Arigatoo goozaimasu, and onegai shimasu. I got excited when I picked up on these phrases and also learnt that onegai shimasu can be used for saying thank you in advance rather than just in introductions.

Vinland Saga ep1 Review

    This past weekend, I watched the first episode of the anime titled" Vinland Saga." The story begins with a man named Thors, who is fighting alongside his partner, Thorkell, at around 1000 A.D. For some reason, Thors fakes his death, and time skips forward, and he's now settled down with 2 kids and a wife in Iceland. 

    Various events occurred throughout the story, but one aspect that stood out was the ending. A warship is shown approaching a location, and a box in Thors house w
ith weapons is also shown. What could this mean? I don't know. But it could be implying that maybe Thors' past might be coming to haunt him, meaning the life he ran away from might be back.

    Something that stood out to me was the fact that a Japanese anime was set in Europe. It caught me a bit off guard, but I am excited to see where the story takes me.

 Hello and welcome to my Blog! My name is Lapidoth, and I chose to study Japanese because I needed an elective for a requirement. Since it was flexible on what I could pick, I decided on studying Japanese since the language and culture is something I have always been interested in. I am excited about learning the language and especially looking forward to the spring festival later in the year. ありがとお for reading.
